Iran Fires Missiles at Iraq Airbase Housing US Troops

Iran has fired what it is describing as “tens” of surface-to-surface missiles at al-Asad airbase in Iraq.

The base houses U.S. troops.

The attack is in response to America’s killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is also warning against any retaliation.

Ayn al Asad is an Iraqi Armed Forces and United States armed forces base located in Al Anbar Governorate of western Iraq.

The base is also used by British armed forces in Iraq.

It was the second-largest US military airbase in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "has been informed of the situation" and his office is "monitoring it closely."

This is a developing story...
