A new direction for our Facebook comments

As of today, we are allowing comments on our Facebook page once again.

Comments were turned off on February 19 after a small group of people decided to use our platform to post harmful, threatening, and vulgar comments. After closing comments on our page, we received several messages containing threats, harassment, and abuse.

These threats have not and will not deter us from reporting facts. There is a lot of information available online, some of it is wrong and some of it is right. We do not editorialize and we strive to be as accurate as possible.

To combat the growing animosity toward journalism, we have updated our social media policy. Moving forward, we will ban anyone who violates our terms and we will hide or delete comments that violate terms.

We just ask users to be respectful and contribute in a meaningful way to the discussion.
