Blustery day ahead for the Avalon Peninsula #nlwx

Avalon

An area of low pressure will pass just southeast of the Avalon Peninsula resulting in snow this afternoon and evening. The heaviest snow is expected on the southeastern Avalon Peninsula where 15 to 20 cm is expected along with winds gusting from 80 to 100 km/h.


For the St. John's metro area, total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm is forecasted along with maximum wind gusts to 70 km/h.


The western half of the Avalon Peninsula will see 5 to 10 cm of snow and winds gusting to 70 km/h.


Remainder of the province

Across the remainder of the province, fairly benign weather is expected with sun and cloud with a few flurries and highs ranging from minus 1 to minus 16.
