Fire destroys large commercial warehouse in Conception Bay South, Monday evening
Firefighters battled a significant commercial fire in Long Pond, Conception Bay South.
On Monday evening, shortly before 7:00 p.m., Emergency crews from the Conception Bay South Fire Department, St. John's Regional Fire Department, along with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and NL Health Services (NLHS), responded to multiple reports of a fire at a commercial building on Oakes Lane.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from the structure. Crews promptly deployed attack lines and established a supply line utilizing multiple engines on-site to combat the fire. The high winds posed a significant challenge, leading firefighters to switch to a defensive attack strategy. They set up master streams using one CBS Fire Engine and a Ladder Truck from SJRFD, while still utilizing multiple attack lines.
Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours, working diligently to extinguish the fire, check for remaining hotspots, and conduct cleanup operations.
There were no injuries reported in this incident.
