Heavy rain expected for the southwest coast this weekend

This weekend heavy rain is expected across the southwest coast of the island.

Environment Canada expects upwards of 100 mm of rain between Saturday morning and Sunday evening.

Since significant rainfall is expected, there is the possibility of localized flooding.

The provincial government is asking homeowners to secure loose items around their properties, ensure sump pumps are in working order, and consider moving important documents to higher ground.

If you are travelling, you should never cross floodwaters on foot or in a vehicle as the water may be deeper than it appears.
