Indian hackers attack Canadian Forces website

Indian hackers attacked Canadian websites on Wednesday including the Canadian Forces website.

A group of Indian hackers claimed responsibility for the cyberattack. The attacks are believed to be in response to a growing rift between Canada and India. Canada claims that the Indian government was involved in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Since then there has been rising tension between the two countries.

The attack was a DDoS attack. This is when a malicious attempt to disrupt the normal traffic of a targeted server, service or network takes place by overwhelming the target or its surrounding infrastructure with a flood of Internet traffic.

In 2022, bilateral trade between India and Canada was at about C$15.14 billion.
