Leader Profile: Pierre Poilievre

Pierre Poilievre is currently the leader of the Official Opposition and the leader of the Conservative Party since 2022. He has served as the member of Parliament for Carleton since 2004.
He was born in Calgary, and studied international relations at the University of Calgary. From there he moved to Ottawa to work for Canadian Alliance leader Stockwell Day.
Under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, he held various parliamentary secretary roles from 2006 to 2013 before serving as minister for democratic reform from 2013 to 2015 and concurrently as minister of employment and social development in 2015.
Growing up, Poilievre worked as a paperboy for the Calgary Sun, had a job at TELUS doing corporate collections by calling businesses, and briefly as a journalist for Alberta Report, a conservative weekly magazine.
Poilievre married Anaida Galindo in 2017 and has two children.
