Mark Carney to be sworn in as Prime Minister today

Today, Mark Carney will be sworn in as the next Prime Minister of Canada. A new cabinet will also be sworn in.

Governor General Mary Simon will preside over the swearing-in ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at the Rideau Hall Ballroom at 12:30 p.m. Newfoundland time.

After meeting with Trudeau on March 10, Carney stated that the timing of the handover in power was discussed, and that the "transition will be seamless and it will be quick".
