Microsoft outage linked to CrowdStrike

Microsoft users around the world awoke to an IT outage this morning. Microsoft said in a statement that, "users may be unable to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services" and they are working to mitigate the impact.

Crowdstrike, an American cybersecurity technology company, says there was a 'defect' in a software update that caused the IT outage.

Around the world everything from airports, to banks, hospitals, media outlets, and businesses were taken offline.

There are widespread travel disruptions as a result.
