MLBPA declines MLB request for federal mediators

The Major League Baseball Players Association declined a request from Major League Baseball for federal mediators to assist in the labour negotiations between the two sides.

MLB made its request on Thursday. The organization was seeking assistance to help move the negotiations toward a new collective bargaining agreement.

There are a number of issues that both sides cannot agree on, including pre-arbitration.

There has been an ongoing lockout since December.
