Multiple greenhouses destroyed following major fire at Rise and Shine Nursery

Multiple greenhouses were destroyed following amajor fire at Rise and Shine Nursery in the Goulds, early Wednesday afternoon.

The St John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) from multiple stations responded to the blaze at around 12:50 p.m. this afternoon.

When fire crews from the nearest station arrived which would be Goulds Volunteer Fire Department, they were advised that a structure was fully engulfed in flames. Heavy black smoke could be seem for several kms.

Firefighters from Goulds, Mount Pearl, Brookfield, West-End and Central, Fire Stations all responded to the blaze and were on the scene for roughly four and a half hours, and as newfoundnews left the scene, Firefighters were still using the deck gun on one of the pumpers to get at any hotspots at were left.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) had Goulds Main Road from Putts Lane to Robert E Howlett Highway closed for several hours so firefighters could easily fight the fire.

There were no injuries following this blaze.

RNC are Investigating into the cause of the blaze.
