MUN looking to conduct review on increasing the Faculty of Medicine seats
Memorial University is looking to conduct a review on increasing the Faculty of Medicine from 80 students to 90 students. These students will be from Newfoundland and Labrador.
A Request for Proposals has been issued. The successful proponent will review the requirements of the expansion, such as infrastructure and staffing, resourcing and equipment.
The hope is that by offering students a medical education in their home province will increase the likelihood of those students remaining in the province.
The provincial government also announced that physicians have agreed to practice in communities such as Bonavista, Springdale and on the Burin Peninsula. A physician has also agreed to offer service via virtual clinics for Bishop’s Falls.
