New provincial radio system launches
Both the RCMP and the RNC have started using a new province-wide radio system on the Avalon Peninsula.
The new system will aid communication between the RCMP, RNC, firefighters, paramedics and other public service providers during emergencies.
Over the next few months paramedics and ambulance dispatchers on the Avalon Peninsula will also begin using the system. Eventually, the system will roll out across the province and should be in place by mid-2024.
The system will cost $181 million over 12 years.
