Provincial Government and the Town of Conception Bay South Partner on Sports Facility

Premier Andrew Furey was in the Town of Conception Bay South on Tuesday to announce up to $8 million in support for a new sports facility.
The Community Lifestyle Centre is a 50-50 cost-shared project and is estimated to cost approximately $16 million, with the final project costs to be determined by the outcome of the Town of Conception Bay South’s procurement process.
The proposed facility will provide accessible opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities to engage in year-round sports and recreation, improving physical and mental health. It will span approximately 100,000 square feet and will feature an air-supported structure, which is a proven, reliable technology ideal for year-round use.
The sports structure will include multi-use courts, large turf field, as well as dedicated community spaces. It will support a number of court sports such as basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, as well as turf sports such as soccer, football, baseball, softball and ultimate frisbee. The centre will also include an estimated 5,000 square-foot building which will house office spaces, washrooms, change rooms, along with a community room.
