RCMP responding to active shooter near Terra Nova

UPDATE: The RCMP has taken 30-year-old Kyle Rideout into custody.

RCMP is responding to an active shooter situation six kilometres west of the town of Terra Nova.

Police say that the suspect is 30-year-old Kyle Rideout and he is travelling in a Blue 1997 GMC Truck potentially towing a trailer with a Newfoundland and Labrador license plate with the number CKN-342.

Local residents are asked to lock their doors, shelter in place and stay away from windows.

Do not approach the suspect.
