RNC Apprehends Driver Wanted for Theft Following Foot Chase
Saturday morning, members of the RNC Operational Patrol Services attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Robert E. Howlett Drive in St. John’s.
Upon stopping, two females fled from the vehicle on foot, running into a nearby wooded area.
With assistance from the K9 unit, officers tracked and apprehended the two individuals a short distance away. Following a brief investigation, officers determined that the female driver was wanted in connection with a previous theft and was under court-ordered conditions prohibiting her from operating a motor vehicle.
As a result, the 26-year-old female was charged with the following offenses:
Theft
Breach of Release Order (4 counts)
Breach of Probation (2 counts)
She was taken into custody and will appear in court. Her vehicle was also impounded.
The female passenger was released without charges.
