Significant storm to impact the province beginning tonight #nlwx
The weather will be quite calm to start today, as the adage goes, it's calm before the storm. Today we are looking at fair weather for most of the province with highs across Newfoundland from 0 to minus 8 and highs in Labrador from minus 9 to minus 15.
All of that ends tonight and Friday. Snow will push across the west coast and parts of central before changing to rain before morning. On Friday, rain is expected for all of the Island.
For Green Bay - White Bay, Buchans and the interior, Deer Lake - Humber Valley, Corner Brook and vicinity and the Gros Morne regions, snowfall of 5 to 10 cm, except 15 cm over higher terrain is expected this evening until Friday morning.
All coastal areas of Newfoundland will see gusts between 90 and 100 to 120 km/h. In the Wreckhouse area, gusts to 150 km/h are possible.
Significant snowfall is expected for coastal Labrador from Lodge Bay to Nain. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 25 cm is expected with wind gusts between 80 to 90 km/h.
