Six people displaced following house fire in centre-city of St John's, Saturday afternoon.
A fire that broke out in St John's on Saturday afternoon resulted in six people being displaced.
Emergency crews responded to the fire Wexford Street close to Dorset Street around 4:20 p.m. Upon arrival, smoke was observed billowing from the right side of the house. The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) responded to the incident. Fire crews effectively battled the flames, bringing most of the fire under control within twenty-five minutes. Firefighters diligently worked for the following hour and a half to ensure no remaining hot spots or embers posed a threat.
Fortunately, there were no injuries but an ambulance was called back to the scene to accessed one female individual for breathing in smoke but the female did not require transport to hospital. The house suffered extensive fire damage, as well as smoke and water damage throughout.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
