Sport NL announces recipients for the Provincial Annual Awards

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador announced the 2022 recipients for the Provincial Annual Awards last week.

The Provincial Annual Awards celebrate the sporting successes and contributions of people in the sports community from the province.

New this year is the Female Coach of the Year Award.

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador’s Board President Chris Schwartz said, "the recipients represent some of the most outstanding individuals within our sports community who are a huge part of shaping amateur sport in the province."

Recipients include:

• Junior Female Athlete of the Year Abby Newhook - Hockey

• Junior Male Athlete of the Year Liam Drover-Mattinen - Tennis

• Team of the Year Team Gushue - Curling

• Official of the Year Award Chantal McDonald - Soccer

• Executive of the Year Greg Barton - Hockey

• Volunteer of the Year Jared Butler - Hockey

• Female Coach of the Year Allison Kirby - Gymnastics

• Male Coach of the Year Jeff Thomas - Curling

• Senior Female Athlete of the Year Kate Bazeley - Athletics

• Senior Male Athlete of the Year Liam Hickey - ParaHockey
