St. John's says allegations that Growler's were evicted for other reasons are categorically false

The City of St. John's has responded to comments that the Growler's were evicted from the former Mile One Centre for reasons other than allegations of disrespectful workplace conduct.

The city says that any comments claiming that the city is using employees as an excuse to evict the team from the facility are "categorically false."

Back on Monday Deacon Sports and Entertainment was informed that employees of St. John's Sports and Entertainment had brought forward allegations of disrespectful workplace conduct against staff.

Following this notification, more allegations came forward, and on October 26 the Board and City Council staff met to discuss the actions the Board could take.

The City says that the team had been talking about moving or building a new arena for several months and the decision to evict them has nothing to do with that it also maintains that is not the reason why tickets were not on sale on October 20 as originally planned.
