Old Perlican is located near the tip of the Baccalieu Trail. You can get to the community via Route 70 or Route 80.
The community of 608 has a rich history dating back to 1597. The name of the community was Parlican with Old added later so as not to confuse it with New Perlican, located 30 kilometres south.
It is one of the oldest fishing communities in the province and it served as the major fishing station in Trinity Bay for migratory fishermen from England in the 17th century. Today the fishery remains a vibrant part of the community.
The town serves as the service centre for nearby communities. It features a hospital, high school, seniors' home, and more.
As with most other communities in the province, there are breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Old Perlican Island.
