Trudeau announces major HST cut
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced new measures to help Canadians save money.
Most Canadians will receive $250 cheques. Additionally the HST will be removed on several goods from December 14 through February 15, 2025.
Goods which will see taxes removed include prepared foods, including vegetable trays, pre-made meals and salads, and sandwiches, restaurant meals, and snacks.
Beer, wine, cider, and pre-mixed alcoholic beverages below seven per cent alcohol will also be tax free.
It's not only food but also children's clothing and footwear, car seats, and diapers, and children's toys.
Books, print newspapers, and puzzles for all ages and Christmas trees will also be tax free.
