Trudeau makes surprise visit to Ukraine

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly have made a surprise visit to Ukraine.

While in Ukraine Trudeau met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

The Canadian Embassy will also be reopening in Kyiv, Trudeau raised the Canadian flag at the embassy.

Trudeau also toured a suburb of Kyiv that had been destroyed by Russian forces.

Later today, Trudeau is expected to participate in a G7 leaders’ meeting on the war in Ukraine.
