Ukrainian newcomers to arrive in St. John’s today


Ukrainian newcomers will be arriving in St. John’s this evening. The flight is travelling from Katowice, Poland.


Premier Furey and Minister Byrne will be on hand to welcome the newcomers.


The provincial government and the Association for New Canadians are looking for help from residents who wish to volunteer.


Residents can help by identifying job opportunities for Ukrainians and assisting with accommodation and donations of goods and/or services. Additionally, people can donate to the Association for New Canadians Emergency Fund, assist as an interpreter, or join the Family Match Program. For more information, click here. (external link)


The International Organization for Migration says that more than 7.1 million people have been internally displaced since the invasion of Ukraine.
