A low currently impacting Ontario will move eastward over the next couple of days and will eventually have an impact on the weather in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Newfoundland

On Thursday night snow will move onto the west coast of Newfoundland before changing over to rain. All of the Island with the exception of the Great Northern Peninsula will see rain on Friday.

Along the south and west coast of Newfoundland, rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm is expected. The northern Avalon Peninsula and Clarenville will get about 10 to 20 mm and about 5 to 10 mm in central.

Along the west coast, very strong winds are expected. Winds will gust to 100 km/h along the coast, but potentially up to 140 in areas prone to enhanced southeasterlies. In the Wreckhouse area, gusts up to 160 km/h is possible.

Labrador

Snow will begin across Labrador on Thursday evening and continue until Friday afternoon. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm is possible for most of the Big Land. Winds will gust between 80 and 100 km/h, especially along the coast.
