War of words between St. John's & Deacon Sports and Entertainment

Deacon Sports and Entertainment is accusing the City of St. John's of acting in bad faith over the lease agreement for Mile One Centre.

The company said in a statement that the failure to sign the proposed lease was due to terms and conditions that they describe as "unreasonably excessive" for this type of agreement.

They also accuse St. John's Sports and Entertainment of negotiating with another party without notifying Deacon Sports and Entertainment and expecting Deacon Sports and Entertainment to solely take on the burden of resolving other company’s debts.

St. John's Sports and Entertainment said that the allegations of bad faith by the Board and Management of SJSEL are unfounded.
