Woman dies of H3N8 bird flu in China

China has reported its first human death from the H3N8 avian influenza. According to the World Health Organization, this is the first human death worldwide from this virus.

On Monday, a woman from Zhongshan City, China was hospitalized for severe pneumonia and passed away due to the illness shortly after.

The report also states that she had multiple underlying health conditions.

The woman was 56 years old. She was exposed to live poultry at a market.
